Elsieann Marie Kovalik, 94, of Glen Carbon and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:58 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.

She was born June 22, 1922 in Springfield, Illinois, a daughter of the late Carl and Henrietta Scheina.

She married Henry "Hank" Kovalik on November 21, 1940 at St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield, Illinois and he passed away on March 8, 1994.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Granite City and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Judi Reynolds of Collinsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sandra Kovalik of St. Charles, Missouri; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jacob Kovalik, Rick and Sharon Reynolds, Tim and Lisa Reynolds, Paula and Chad Hackstadt and Darren Reynolds; ten great grandchildren, Michael, Ethan, Caitlin, Tanner, Chase, Brant, Johnny, Matt, Mattie and Jordan; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Paul Reynolds; two brothers, Carl and Harry Scheina and a sister, Harriet Knoll.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Kyle Wright officiating.

Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.

Memorials may be made to Meridian Village and may be accepted at the funeral home.
